How to set up your Kind-Eco Community

Here are the steps to set up a Kind-Eco community, they ensure a shared commitment to the community's principles:

  1. Start Small: Begin with 2-3 people who share a common vision.

  2. Agree on Values: All members should accept the 12 steps of the Kindness Economy.

  3. Establish Community Standards: Define responsibilities and contributions.

  4. Opening Reflection: To set a tone of mindfulness, inclusivity, and respect, start each meeting with a universal reflection: "May we find peace in accepting what we cannot change, strength to foster positive growth in ourselves and the world, and insight to harmonise our actions with the well-being of all beings and the Earth. May our intentions be rooted in compassion, mindfulness, and respect for all life."

  5. Announce the Community: Write a post announcing that the community has been established, mentioning the location but not naming individuals. Share this on the Kind-Eco blog and update it with comments and reflections as the community grows.

  6. Define Projects: Choose and define projects for the community to work on. These can be drawn from the Kind-Eco Conference or other initiatives linked to the Kind-Eco model. Ensure the projects align with the community's values and objectives.

  7. Regular Meetings: Schedule regular meetings to discuss progress, share experiences, and ensure all members are aligned with the community's goals.

  8. Collaborative Decision-Making: Encourage all members to participate in decision-making processes, fostering a sense of ownership and collective responsibility.

  9. Continuous Learning: Promote ongoing education and learning within the community, focusing on sustainability, ethical living, and community-building skills.

  10. Outreach and Networking: Engage with other Kind-Eco communities (or other ethical groups) and broader networks to share knowledge, resources, and support.

These steps provide a clear roadmap for establishing and nurturing a Kind-Eco community aligned with the principles of the Kindness Economy.
